Charles De Ketelaere could be in line for his first start as a striker for AC Milan against Salernitana in the first game of 2022, a report claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that Olivier Giroud will return to training at Milanello tomorrow together with Theo Hernandez, having been on vacation since their World Cup final defeat against Argentina.
In the next few days, Stefano Pioli and his staff will evaluate their condition and then decide whether or not to deploy them from the first minute against Salernitana.
If Giroud were to start from the bench, the striker spot will be entrusted to Charles De Ketelaere against Salernitana as per the paper, given that Divock Origi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both out injured.
The role of false nine is not unusual to the 21-year-old who was deployed in that position at his old team Club Brugge, which is a large part of the reason he netted 18 times last season.
