Di Marzio confirms possibility of bridge deal to buy time in Leao talks

Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed the news from his colleagues earlier who suggested that Rafael Leao could sign a short-term renewal at AC Milan.

As the weeks tick by without pen on paper and his struggles for form continue, the worries grow regarding Leao and whether he will eventually choose to commit his future to the Rossoneri despite the many reports of optimism.

Speaking on Sky, Di Marzio (via MilanNews) gave an update on the current situation and admitted that there is also the possibility of a one-year renewal until 2025 – given his current deal expires in 2024 – to then re-examine the discussions later.

Of course there is still the hypothesis that he renews for three or four more years, but the idea of what is commonly known as a ‘bridge deal’ could certainly by all the parties involved some time to tackle the bigger issues like the Sporting CP fine as it would protect his market value and remove the risk of him leaving on a free.

  1. Give him $2M salary + $400k per goal + $100k per assist. If he scores 20 goals & 10 assist, that will be a cool $11M salary. It should be a very attractive offer.
