Di Marzio: Latest on Laxalt as Rossoneri eye young full-back to replace Rodriguez

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of full-back Diego Laxalt was present at Casa Milan on Wednesday but not to discuss a return to the Rossoneri, a report claims.

Anto Vitiello of MilanNews.it broke the news that talks being were being held between Milan and the Uruguay international’s representatives, possibly over the potential of an early return.

With Ricardo Rodriguez closing in on an exit to either Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven or Turkish side Fenerbahce, the Rossoneri are expected to dip into the market to secure a new back-up left-back, with Laxalt a possible stopgap.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio though, the talks with Laxalt’s agent was not about an early return. In fact, he wanted to know if Milan would sanction a move to Spain for his client, where there are several clubs interested.

Di Marzio adds that, in the event of Rodriguez’s exit, the Rossoneri intend to sign a youngster to grow behind Theo Hernandez.

Calciomercato.com reporter Daniele Longo goes one further by adding that three LaLiga clubs want to sign Laxalt: namely Real Mallorca, Eibar and Deportivo Alaves.
