Di Marzio: Milan beat competition from Inter to secure signing of Sweden U17 international

By MaaxiAngelo -

Milanisti across the globe are eager to see who joins the Rossoneri this summer. Now, the first name has been signed: Lukas Björklund.

Lukas Björklund to Milan. It may not be a big name signing, but if you look at Ralf Rangnick’s past signings, they rarely are until he makes them big names.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Wednesday evening’s Calcio Mercato L’Originale (via MilanNews) that Milan have signed Lukas Björklund from Swedish giants, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s boyhood club, Malmö FF.

The Swedish youth international, born in 2004, has played six games for Malmö’s youth sides in 2020 and scored three goals. He is the Malmö FF U17 captain and has represented Sweden six times on U17-level where he has really impressed.

The 185cm tall attacking midfielder thrives between the lines, excels technically, and creates space well for his teammates. Di Marzio goes on to explain that Milan are long-time admirers of Björklund and has scouted him close up when Malmö and Milan’s academies faced off.

Inter, Bologna, and Udinese were also interested in Björklund, but Milan’s strong intentions and willingness to acquire him proved decisive.
