Di Marzio: Milan have doubts over letting defender leave; contract renewal planned

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are leaning towards keeping defender Matteo Gabbia beyond January despite an offer from Parma, according to Di Marzio.

Calciomercato.com reported on Wednesday that there was a meeting between Gabbia’s agent Tullio Tinti and Parma’s sporting director Daniele Faggiano on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of a January move.

The Emilian club want to sign him on a loan with option to buy, but Milan want to retain ownership – especially considering that there is not much defensive depth available to Stefano Pioli currently.

According to what Gianluca Di Marzio reported to Calciomercato – L’originale on Sky Italia last night, Milan have doubts about letting Gabbia leave for Parma.

The journalist claims that Milan are very happy with the performance of the player and with how he trains, and among other things he will also be offered a contract renewal because the Rossoneri are very satisfied with the player’s potential.

Gabbia has made one appearance for the senior side this season, coming on for the final eight minutes of last week’s Coppa Italia win over SPAL.
