Di Marzio: Milan offer counterpart to Roma in bid for Abraham – the response

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on getting their attack fixed in place for the season ahead and Tammy Abraham has emerged as a target in addition to Alvaro Morata, a report claims.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are close to convincing Morata to join them from Atletico Madrid. In addition to the Spaniard, however, the Rossoneri management could also buy another striker and in the last few days they had some talks with Roma for Abraham.

The Englishman is expected to leave the Giallorossi this summer and Milan have made it known that they are interested. At the moment, however, an agreement has not been reached between the clubs.

Milan would like to include Luka Jovic and another counterpart in the deal in order to lower the cash sum required, but Roma have other ideas and have therefore declined the hypothesis.

The parties could however reconvene in the coming days, especially because Milan’s plan is to purchase two forwards (Morata and another) in order to give Fonseca more options.

Abraham had a difficult last season as he spent most of it recovering from a knee ligament injury he suffered in the final game of 2022-23, but he is now back fully fit and at 26 years of age he is half a decade younger than Morata.

  1. Waste of money. If morata is a starter what will this dude do in the limited gametime?

What’s wrong with jovic? And or Okafor?

      1. It’s true tho about Abraham..he’s gonna have 4-5M salary and play 1000-1500 minutes as a sub. Morata will eat majority of the gametime on ST.

        Is this logical? Economic?

        1. Oli was overused. Morata, if he’s the only notable striker, will suffer the same fate and his performances will tank. Jovic can’t play as a 9 – needs a partner. And Oka is more winger than striker.

I don’t mind another striker, but Tammy is Origi 2.0. if they chose to bring another striker on, make it worth the time and the effort.

inter have Lau and Thuram, and they added Tarehmi – our primary focus last mercato, as the back up. Say what you will about Inter, but Marotta is another level, man. LOL!!!

  2. I think Abraham is very underrated
He had great seasons and in the games against as his determination was very costly for us.

  3. Very different than i read in romano that say ACM only want to make tammy 3rd striker below morata & jovic . Even if ACM not getting tammy , no problem too , he is just last choice striker

    1. If this is true then we will probably see lineups with 2 ST. I’m all about our team having multiple solutions so that they can change tactics during games

  4. In other words, let’s exchange our striker who scored 9 goals in 1200 minutes for a striker who scored 9 goals in 3000 minutes across 2 seasons…. very logical right ?

  5. You guys don’t realise we have 50+ games this season?? That’s a lot of games and 2 starters for each position is a must in modern football. Plus if one is injured then need another guy to be able to come during a game too.. quality depth especially for the most crucial position like striker is more important than ever now. Morata can max start 30-35 games

    1. You’re joking’ right? Morata is 31yo not 41yo..he can easily do 40+ games. Giroud did 40 games last season. Lukaku (same age as morata) did 45 games..

And yeah if 1st choice gets injured then the 2nd one plays. Jovic in our case…

        1. Nah he was pretty consistent. It’s just his consistency hit a peak every 4 games, then dank, then peak, then dank, then peak. Especially in the second part of the season.

That’s on pioli for not being able to a) read the form of his players and b) not being able to rotate properly. He had options but didn’t use them

  6. It is crystal clear the Redbird transfer policy again this year (and likely so long as they own the club to maximize profit) is to NOT spend over 20M in fixed fees on ANY player

We are seeing it again and again. All of the targets we are after (Royal, Pavlovic, Fofana, Fullkrug, Abraham, etc….) we haven’t gone over 20M – and won’t for fixed fees – maybe we throw in a couple mill for bonuses. That is it .

So unfortunately our options are limited and a player like Abraham is likely as good as we can get (even tho he’s not even worth 20M right now). But this is the Redbird way – discounts and bargains. It’s the reason we went after Morata – because he costs 13M. If he was 30M we wouldn’t even pick up the phone.

So anyone expecting these big names to come that cost 40, 50, 60M are delusional. I have been saying it over and over again – Redbird will not spend 40M plus on ANY player – and now that is even worse at 20M lol

    Good times.
