As Hakan Calhanoglu is struggling with an injury, Stefano Pioli has decided to start Lucas Paqueta for tonight’s clash with Torino. The Brazilian will be looking to regain his form after a tough time, starting behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, as Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on Sky Italia this evening (via MilanNews.it), he could have left the Rossoneri in January. In fact, Milan were in negotiations to sell the midfielder after a rough start to the season.

Paqueta even ‘came close’ to joining Juventus, per the reporter. Despite the usual denials, the two teams were negotiation on the basis of a Paqueta-Bernardeschi swap for a long time, although the never managed to reach an agreement.

The parties, though, tried for a long time to find it. As Di Marzio continues, Milan were also in talks with PSG, who never came close to the numbers that the Rossoneri wanted. Therefore, Paqueta remained at the San Siro.
