Di Marzio: Initial tests show calf lesion as Bennacer could be out for three months

Ismael Bennacer sustained an injury training with Algeria and the initial tests are not positive, suggesting that the midfielder is dealing with a calf lesion. According to a report, this could keep the midfielder out for around three months.

It was earlier today that Algeria confirmed the injury, ruling him out for the upcoming game, and more reports have now surfaced on the matter. Bianchin stated that Milan are fearing a ‘longer stop‘ and this has been backed up by Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to the journalist, as cited by Francesco Nasato, Bennacer has already undergone tests that showed a third-degree lesion to his calf. Further tests will take place at Milanello and if its diagnosis were to be confirmed, then the midfielder will be looking at 2.5-3 months on the sidelines.

It comes after Milan tried to offload Bennacer in the final days of the transfer window, even leaving him out of training for a few days. However, once it became clear that he was staying, he was reinstated and Paulo Fonseca had been hoping to use him after the break.

Many fans have also been calling for Tijjani Reijnders to play in the No.10 role but without Bennacer, this might not happen.

  1. Apparently he can be replaced on the UCL list if evidence shows he will be out for up to 3 months, they should replace him with Jovic…

  2. Sad to hear this news BUT not surprising given his recent injury history

IF we had planned properly this wouldn’t be that big of a deal. As I said in a previous post: we HAD his replacement in Konė right in our hands – BUT of course our cheap management waited and waited and he went to Roma.

An experienced management team would have (knowing Bennys injury history; his desire to eventually play in SA; our desire to sell him this summer or next) – would have: 1. Secured his replacement (Konè) now instead of waiting. As a result we are without our only pure DM. Brilliant job Furlani, Ibra and Moncada.

What a disaster. You cannot make this $h*t up. Comedy of errors.

Zlatan better pick up the phone and let Momma Rabiot stick it up his arse hard in order to get him to play for us. He’s practically the only option at this point and he’s not even a DM…

Ooops!! I forgot we have Musah and Vos!! We good then 🤡🤡🤡🤡😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭

    1. The problem is, since we lack so many italians and serie A players, we can’t really get players like Koné without first selling some of our foreigners.
Had we managed to sell or even loan Bennacer, we could probably have gotten Koné, but neither happened.
You could also say it was stupid for our management to always go for french/ligue 1 players instead of Italians players (I believe a player like Prati or Ricci could have been good deputies for us).

  3. Very big loss. Bennacer is on huge salary and can’t be sold easily. They can’t sell him for 10 – 15 now, which is loss again.

  4. We can see this as a chance to finally have RLC occupied away from that CAM that he isn’t with either Pulisic there or just two strikers instead.

  5. Oh no.
What are we going to do without our least reliable midfielder who was also by far our worst midfielder last season?
Nobody but Bennacer fanboys actually expected anything from Bennacer this season anyway.
    Play Zeroli and Eletu.

  6. Yes. Ricci was available.

Had we not resigned Jovic only to send him to the stands would have also freed up a spot.

Still down to POOR planing by management – no matter how you look at it.

We need an EXPERIENCED sporting director and not a fkn Banker. What a joke

  7. There is no club want to buy injury prone player. ACM must wait till 2026 for him leave free transfer. Saudi Arabia league only ACM hope to offload bennacer in 2025
