Di Marzio provides update on three key midfield targets for Milan – the details

By Euan Burns -

Gianluca Di Marzio has provided a key update on AC Milan’s pursuits of three different midfield targets, with one of them seemingly very close to joining the club.

As was tweeted by the Italian transfer journalist on Monday afternoon, Milan are working hard to close the deal with Chelsea to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

There are suggestions that this deal could even be completed in the coming hours rather than days. At the same time, he confirmed that whilst there is an interest in Valencia’s Yunus Musah, he is not one of the preferred targets for the club at this stage.

The third player that was mentioned by Di Marzio was AZ Alkmaar’s Tajjini Reijnders. The Dutchman has given his approval for a move to Milan but there is not actually any agreement in place with the player himself or the Dutch team.

Other reports have suggested that he will cost in the region of €18 million.

  1. Something doesn’t make sense with the Loftus- Cheek and Guler interests. I believe we can only register one more Non-EU player since we are bringing in Kamada who will take one of those spots or if we get rid of Devin Vazquez we can use his Non-EU spot for either Cheek or Guler?

    1. Agreed. Maybe some of those players have a route to EU citizenship somehow?

I’m not opposed to RLC as I think we desperately need players like that at the moment, but if that’s using one of one or two non-EU spots then it feels like a big risk or a concession of some other targets.

I think Guler is very unlikely anyway, although maybe there’s consideration of leaving him on loan for another year even if a deal is done?

  2. Maldini was wrong, we shouldn’t have gone after RLC. He doesn’t fit the profile Cardinale wants..
Moncada is right, we should sign RLC.
