Di Marzio: Milan closing in on signings of Pulisic and Reijnders – the latest

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have been very active on the mercato over the last few days and the latest reports suggest Christian Pulisic is set to arrive. But not just the American is close, with negotiations ongoing for Tijjani Reijnders as well.

The Rossoneri have said goodbye to quite a few players already, including Sandro Tonali, and thus need to make reinforcements this summer. Pulisic appears to be next in line, having already announced Marco Sportiello, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Luka Romero.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are very close to securing the arrival of Pulisic as an agreement has more or less been reached with Chelsea at €20m plus bonuses. The feeling is that it could be completed very soon.

In addition to Pulisic, Milan are also in advanced negotiations with AZ Alkmaar over the midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutch side have been very firm on their demands thus far but the Rossoneri are closing the gap. It could take some more time to secure the 24-year-old’s arrival, though.

  1. Can we just hurry up and get these deals done? It’s honestly really annoying and exhausting that it takes us weeks to sign a player yet inter get deals done like frattesi in 24 hrs.

    1. That’s because you are on a website which is all about AC Milan if you’d be reading a website all about Inter. Then you’d be reading news about Frattesi everyday. But, if you read more neutral website about transfer market. You will see AC Milan once in a while, and not always.

      1. Frattesi had links with every club and including inter but when they started actually talking they closed it in 24 hrs,as well as thuram.

Milan took two weeks with thuram and was snatched from under our noses. Pulisic has been going on for over a week, reijnders too. So why can’t we just close negotiations early like many other teams. It’s always a song and dance with making a signing with numerous alternatives and it always ends up in the way we don’t get him.

        1. They workes on Thuram for 6 months and Frattesi was convinced he wanted to play with Barella at Inter or Samacca at Roma since he was called up by the National team. These deals were all but closed before Milan made a phone call

        2. Pretty sure thuram never had any intention in joining Milan. Or Psg. He was waiting on shinter. Like kamada is waiting for us 4 example

        3. “Frattesi had links with every club and including inter but when they started actually talking they closed it in 24 hrs,as well as thuram.”

          LOL! Nope. No. No.

Inter was really close to BUYING Thuram in January already. They didn’t start from scratch. They had agreed on everything with the player months ago.

And when it comes to Frattesi, the rumors started before the season had even ended. Inter was in pole position right from the beginning. They only needed time to get the money for him. And that took waaay longer than they would have wanted as Brozo wasn’t easily convinced.

    2. I mean the whole point with Frattesi is that it’s been ongoing since around January. Because that’s how having a plan works. These deals are moving very quickly for early in the window. Obviously the Lotus Cheek one is an exception because it was lined up a while ago.

    3. Milanellofm is one million per cent right!!!!! Why do milan take weeks and months to conclude a player deal and in the meantime encourage other teams to chase these players with better offers than ours?

    4. What? Inter has personal agreement with him far before Milan sold Tonali, they just dont have money to finalize at that time, thats why Milan try to reach him but he choose to wait Inter offload their players

    1. Too dramatic
Even with no transfer at all we won’t get relegated, we will still end at mid tablet, at worst.

And it’s still early July, calm down.

    2. You must be other club fans . Did you even know that in banter era AC Milan not relegated finish 10 th with mediocre player & coach . Even if we are just take loan player to replace free transfer player without sell tonali , we will still finish 5-6th serie A

  2. I think if we change to 433, it will hinder Theo’s performance because the LCM will take more area of left attacking side. It’s not happened in 4231 because LCDM stay deep. Besides, I believe Krunic and RLC will form perfect double pivot. They compliment each other. Krunic stay deep with his simple accurate distribution and defensive duties with enough height. RLC as box to box with physical strength. So the next key is Reijnder as the AMC. Musa as back up for Krunic.

    1. Pobega as back up for RLC because he has better long shoot. Pulisic can fill all area behind Giroud. So get Chukwueze and offload Messias. Saele still useful with his workrate when we want to defend. Finally who is the perfect back up for Giroud? I still hope Rebic can redeem himself this season.

    2. This guy gets it. The spacing of players in a 433 would hinder the full backs unless the go compact and narrow in the midfield which at that point best to just remain with the 4231
