Dzeko sends signal to Milan ahead of Supercoppa as Inter want trophy ‘right away’

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will resume their pursuit of defending the Scudetto on January 4 and shortly after, they will also take on Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana. The Nerazzurri striker Edin Dzeko has now sent a message to the Rossoneri.

Stefano Pioli’s men are currently in Dubai and will return to Italy on Tuesday. Just one friendly then remains ahead of the resumption of Serie A and it will be a hectic January, that’s for sure.

One of the games during that month is the Supercoppa Italiana, which will be played in Saudi Arabia. Inter striker Dzeko was interviewed by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) and sent a message to Milan.

“We are a great team, really strong, which in the first part of the season didn’t express its real value. In the Champions League we did better and now against Porto, an excellent opponent, we start with a 50% chance. In the meantime, however, we want the first trophy right away, the Super Cup against Milan,” he stated.

For now, though, Milan are focused on the Salernitana clash and getting the players into the best shape for that. It’s indeed an unprecedented situation with such a long break in the middle of the season, but the Rossoneri are doing the best they can.
