Empoli president shuts down rumours linking Milan with promising midfielder

In recent weeks, AC Milan have been linked with many young players as a youth revolution is on the horizon. Ralf Rangnick is set to replace Stefano Pioli and the Rossoneri don’t want to be caught unprepared on the market. 

Samuele Ricci, who currently plays for Empoli in Serie B, is one of the names that has been linked with Milan. Just one week ago, MilanNews.it reported that he is on the San Siro side’s five-man shortlist for the midfield.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb (via MilanNews.it), Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi was asked about the future of the 18-year-old. In addition to shutting down the Milan rumours, he made their plans clear for the future.

“Ricci? Milan are the only ones among those mentioned that we haven’t had any inquiries from. In any case, we want to keep him because we’re convinced that his value can increase by playing one more season with us,” he stated.
