The Rossoneri had prioritised Rodrigo Bentancur, but saw their offers rejected and lost patience with Boca Juniors’ way of doing business.
The main problem with the deal for Bentancur was the fact that Juventus had an option on the player as part of the Carlos Tevez deal, which saw him return to Boca.
The Besiktas player has been open about his desire to move to San Siro, and it’s thought a deal has been closed with an announcement in the next couple of days.
A fee was agreed between the two clubs before they moved on to discussing the payment plans, something which was resolved quickly allowing an imminent announcement.
Sosa’s arrival means the chase for Bentancur is over, as with him and Gustavo Gomez Milan do not have any more non-EU slots available.
