Alessandro Matri joined Milan back in 2013 for a ridiculous fee of 11 million euros, which now is being considered as a gift to Juventus, based on the striker’s performances. With Matri returning to Milan in June, will he stay there for long?

Matri was expected to stay for yet another season with Milan, as Mauro Tassotti stated the Rossoneri would need a squad with many players, should they qualify for Europa League. However, with Milan failing to grab both 6th place and the Coppa Italia title, it is confirmed Milan will play yet another season without European tournaments. One of Matri’s lifelines of staying at the San Siro has therefore vanished.
Potential Chinese takeover
President Berlusconi looks set to sell the club to the Chinese consortium that has been granted exclusivity until June 15th. With that said, Cristian Brocchi is not likely to stay on as head coach, with the likes of Unai Emery and Giampaolo named as potential managers for next season. Brocchi’s relationship with Matri would have a huge say on whether the striker should stay or not, as Brocchi has faith in Matri’s ability. Although Brocchi has not been officially sacked yet, it looks as though yet another lifeline is gone for Matri.
So, where will Alessandro end up?
well, it will all come down to the coming weeks, as a possible sale of AC Milan, as well as a potential new manager, will have a huge impact on whether he should stay or go. Newly promoted Cagliari, Matri’s former club, has shown strong interest in the 31-year-old. Alessandro’s contract will end next summer, so it’s almost certain that Milan will try to get some money out of him before the contract expires. Matri is also said to be willing to take a huge pay cut to join his former team.
Where he will go is certainly hard to say, but it’s almost certain that he won’t be spending the next season as a Milan player.
