Rafael Leao started the Monza game on the bench last night, but after the game Paulo Fonseca suggested that he will be back in the team against Real Madrid.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning, Leao has now been benched for the last three league games, and speaking before the match at the U-Power Stadium Fonseca suggested he was preserving the winger for midweek.

There is a section of the fan base that do not believe the Portuguese coach’s version of events and the media have spoken of Leao’s unhappiness at the situation, with some sources even claiming he has asked his entourage to explore a move.

However, in the post-match press conference, Fonseca praised praised Leao who entered the field on the hour mark and managed to do more than Okafor had done in the entire 60 minutes, creating scoring opportunities for himself and wasting one one-on-one with Turati after one of his runs.

“Yes, he came on and did well. That’s the most important thing. It’s important to have this reaction from Rafa, that’s what I want. Yes, I think he’s ready [for Madrid],” Fonseca said.

So the question arises: is Leao ready to return to being a starter for Milan starting from Tuesday’s Champions League match at the Bernabeu? Fonseca answered yes, but now we will have to understand if the Rossoneri coach was telling the truth or bluffing for the umpteenth time.

    1. This is the magic of Capello who said the scudetto was between Napoli and Inter, it was clear how bad Napoli are, yes they beat us but that score line flattered them big time, they are an awful team who will fall at inter and Roma.

Conte has way over achieved with them so far, but we will see in the next few weeks.

The players felll for Capello’s rhetoric, precision strike just as Conte did to Fonseca, Capello always a rosseneri!!

  1. 🤣 😂 hahaha! It happens though, but I have always vouched for Gasperini , an astute veteran who has proven to play compact , attacking and fearless football. You have something ryt infront of you but you choose to ignore. It’s amazing sometimes

      1. Pathetic defending in a first half against a team like Monza put us a candidates for historical lose in Real Madrid game.

No Shame to say the club is bigger that Fonseca quality.
When will “Grande Milan” will act like “Grande” and associates itself with “Grande Coach” that brings all the things fine we are missing for 10 years. Starting from Style to mindset….etc.

You can bring whatever talented players you want, but without a true leading top quality coach its going to be NOTHING.

      2. Gasp failed at Inter. He isn’t a big club coach and doesn’t manage big personalities well. Bergamo is his sweet spot.

Sarri on the other hand would be interesting.

        1. That was very different times and team to Milan, Our money ball youth project isn’t that much different to Atalanta to be frank. But you never know

          1. The point is, Gasp has a big personality and an ego on him and his system takes a while to understand and implement. That doesn’t work at big clubs. “results NOW”
