Fonseca discusses Milan ‘progression’, Napoli defeat and Monza’s strength

Although Paulo Fonseca did not hold a traditional press conference before AC Milan travel to Monza, he has still spoken about the clash.

There is not a direct reason why Fonseca has not spoken to the press ahead of Milan’s trip to Monza this weekend, but of course, there is speculation. Perhaps, it is done to protect him, or it may be due to the quick succession of games.

However, what we do know is that the Portuguese is once again under pressure. The head coach was spoken to by the management after the Napoli loss, and he was informed that his job is no longer fully secure.

It is not the first time that his position has not been fully in his hands, and knowing the Rossoneri, it probably won’t be the last.

Ignoring the pressure on him, he spoke to Milan TV earlier today, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

The team’s momentum…

“We have the awareness of what we did against Napoli. It’s true, we are not satisfied because we lost a game we had to win. We played to win but we have to understand where we have progressed and what the team’s growth is.

“The team has confidence, it’s true that it’s better to work with positive results, but I think the boys are motivated and mentally strong right now. We are ready for this difficult match with Monza.”

Playing away from home…

“If we look at the results we have to win, but not because we never play to win, but because the goal is always the same: to win. We have to win tomorrow. It will be difficult but we want to start winning games away from home too.”

The commitment of the players…

“We have the return of important players who did not play against Napoli, but those who took the field in that match showed how important they can be. I am satisfied with those who played against Napoli, they are ready.

“It’s an important and positive point for me, having the possibility to choose various players at this time is a positive point. The players are all working well, for me it’s positive when it’s difficult to choose. I think the team wins with these things.”

On Monza…

“They are a strong team, they drew against Inter. They have quality and are very well coached. I told the lads it will be a difficult game. We want to win, the team and the players deserve this victory for how they played and how they worked this week.

“They deserve to have this happiness and to give this happiness to the fans. Then afterwards we will think about the game against Real Madrid.”

Growth…

“What is important is to look at how the team is playing. Not only the quality of the game, but also how they work together. I feel the team is working as a team. With the ball, without the ball… We are progressing in so many things. We don’t lose the ball as easily as before, the team understands the moment of the game. It’s true that we need to improve defensively.

“It’s not that we concede so much, but we let Napoli, who don’t make mistakes, an opportunity… I think that defensively the team is also growing, short and compact. This for me is important. Obviously the most important thing for all of us is the results, but when this kind of form from the team creates confidence for the future.”

        1. Redbird just thinking about finance. How you profit a few million every years, then build new stadium, then sell.

Trophyless cardinale milan don’t care about trophy.

          Cardinale: “winning is boring”

  2. Sure, Paulo, sure. We are growing and progressing. Despite having lost 5 times already with 2 draws in 12 games.

Sure, Paulo, sure. It’s not that we’re conceding too many goals, despite most teams having an easy time scoring at least two goals against us.

You are insane, Paulo. Please go away.

  3. Truth be told he never looks confidence on the Milan’s bench. He just doesn’t have that Milan charisma. He’ll be gone. Sooner or later.
