Stefano Pioli’s potential switch to the old 4-2-3-1 formation against Napoli could present a chance for Rafael Leao to play in his favoured position once again, a report claims.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), one of the major beneficiaries of a change in formation could be the Portuguese winger.
Leao has been having to play a more central role during the games in which Pioli has played a 3-4-2-1 which has not suited him. His best football during his career has been played on the left wing.
With Pierre Kalulu out injured, Pioli seems set to ditch his back three and head back to the formation that Milan won the Scudetto playing last season.
It is also the formation that Milan hit terrible form playing in earlier this season which is what prompted the switch to a new shape in the first place, yielding a return to form.
Is he a 1 position pony?
All the evidence suggest so.
