Former coach under Conte confirms he spoke to him about Milan

Coach Roberto Sorrentino has revealed that he spoke with Antonio Conte at a game he attended recently and confirmed that they had a chat about AC Milan.

Many believe that the writing is on the wall for Stefano Pioli as Milan head towards another disappointing trophy-less season, especially after last night’s disappointing against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia in which the team were jeered off the field.

Conte is one of the options that has been mentioned by various sources as a replacement for Pioli heading into 2024-25, even if there are question marks about his salary, his style and the investment he might demand.

As a reminder, the director of Sportitalia – Michele Criscitiello – stated last week that Conte is ‘waiting for Milan’ and that he would not demand the world in terms of wages and summer signings.

Sorrentino spoke on the ‘Club Napoli All News’ segment of Teleclub Italia and he outlined the details of a conversation he had with Conte at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, with his words relayed by PianetaMilan.

“We spoke about Napoli because we meet every year. I have a friendship with Antonio after we spent four years together at Juventus,” he said.

From what I understood there were contacts with Napoli but there is distance. Did we speak about Milan? I would say yes…”
