Frattesi explains why he only wanted Inter despite late attempt from Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Davide Frattesi has explained why he had his heart set on a move to join Inter despite AC Milan’s attempts to convince him.

Frattesi’s name appeared on a list of potential reinforcements for Milan during the period after the news of Sandro Tonali’s imminent move to Milan, and his agent Beppe Riso confirmed that an attempt was made.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani had lunch with his Sassuolo counterpart Giovanni Carnevali and Frattesi’s agent, but discussions didn’t get very far because of the over €30m asking price.

The 23-year-old has joined Inter, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that it will be a loan with an obligation to buy for €25m with young striker Samuele Mulattieri – valued at €8m by Inter – going the other way.

Frattesi spoke at his official presentation alongside Steven Zhang and his comments were relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“It all started a year and a half ago. Playing against Inter I was struck by the stadium and the fans. For me it’s an important factor, and when the opportunity arose I didn’t think about it for a second,” he said.

“I hope to win some trophies, I will give my commitment, professionalism and hopefully some goals. I’ll play alongside champions I’ll try to ‘steal’ something from in training.

“Playing at San Siro as an opponent was difficult, but as an Interista it will be a further motivation. I can’t wait to score and celebrate under the Curva.”

  1. So, not a paid loan first like several of forum members here suggest, right?

Valuing Mulattieri, someone who hasn’t even played in Serie a, for 8 mil was just either pure genius stroke from Morata or suspicious Juve-ism activity. Colombo is younger and already payed in Serie a. How much should we value him? 20 mil?

    1. According to transfermarkt Inter paid 6 mil loan fee for Florenzi.
Almost none of the loans are free.
Last couple years Milan paid 2 mil for Messias loan fee, 1.87 mil for Florenzi, 2 mil for Vranckx. 3 mil for Brahim, also 3 mil for Bakayoko.

      1. As non of ’em being obligation to buy deals. If it’s option to buy, then yes, most of ’em are paid, either in form of fee or salary. I don’t remember we paid on Kessie’s. Same with Locatelli to Juve. Both of ’em were obligation to buy kind of loan. And better yet, 2 years of loan. So it all come down to how the clubs negotiate.

        1. Obligation or option it doesn’t mater, Frattesi initial loan is not free. It’s 6 mil loan fee with 25 mil obligation to buy, plus that Primavera player.
So his transfer to Inter is around 35 mil

    1. Sat in Inter’s trophy room at the club’s headquarters in Milan, Frattesi told the cameras: “You only have to turn around to understand how big this club is.”

      Yeah, right..

  2. I hope ppl here in this site read his interview that said he is interista. That would stop them asking frattessi

  3. At the end this is a job kiddo, wish you the best but IMHO in Milan you would have been the key player, not so sure at Inter considering everything, but who am I to teach you. Follow your ❤️
