From Spain: Barcelona eye €50m-rated Milan star as Suarez replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona have shortlisted AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek as one of the options to replace Luis Suarez, reports in Spain claims.

Piatek only arrived at Milan in January when he joined in a €35million deal, having netted 13 goals in 19 Serie A appearances for Genoa.

He hit the ground running with the Rossoneri, scoring five goals in his first four league starts and netting nine Serie A goals between his arrival and the end of the season.

However, Piatek is currently in somewhat of a dry spell at the moment, having scored just once from open play in his last 11 competitive games.

According to Don Balon though this hasn’t stopped LaLiga giants Barcelona taking an interest as they seek Luis Suarez’s long-term replacement.

The Spanish outlet claims that Piatek is part of a five-man shortlist which includes Timo Werner, Mario Mandzukic, Christian Stuani and Jaime Mata.

Finally, the report adds that Piatek would be expected to cost the Catalan giants €50m should they follow up their interest.
