From Spain: Barcelona want a striker after Suarez injury – AC Milan star on their shortlist

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona have put AC Milan striker Rafael Leao on their shortlist of potential replacements for Luis Suarez, according to a report.

Leao put in a dynamic performance on Saturday afternoon as the Rossoneri ran out 2-0 winners against Cagliari, netting a goal in the second half to open the scoring.

Having shown bright signs in the previous game against Sampdoria when partnered up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Portuguese starlet started up front in the trip to Sardegna.

Stefano Pioli’s new 4-4-2 system appears to be centered around getting the most out of the Leao-Ibrahimovic partnership, but the former Lille man – who arrived in the summer – is attracting interest from abroad.

According to Mundo Deportivo – as cited by MilanNews.it – Barcelona are looking for a striker after learning that Luis Suarez will be out for at least four months.

The outlet claims that there are many profiles that the Blaugrana are evaluating, including Gabigol of Inter, Carlos Vela of Los Angeles FC, Donyel Malen of PSV, Victor Osimhen of Lille and Ezequiel Avila of Osasuna.

However, on their list is also Leao, a player who was described as a ‘major target’ for the Catalan giants by il Corriere dello Sport back in October. Fichajes are also reporting that Leao is on a four-man wish list for Barca.
