Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano has added his voice to the list of those calling for the AC Milan management to back Massimiliano Allegri.
As we wrote in a Devil’s Advocate column during the week, there is a growing tide of opinion that the work Allegri has done since taking over is so positive that he should be handed the keys to the project in the summer, i.e. he should be listened to when it comes to signings and plans.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about Allegri being unhappy with how things are shaping up for 2026-27. Sources – albeit not the most reliable – have spoken of infighting between directors and disagreement over transfer targets, with some even claiming Max is considering his future.
Allegri must get ‘carte blance’ – Di Stefano
Peppe Di Stefano spoke during an interview with Radio Rossonera and he looked ahead to the summer transfer window, commenting on what needs to happen to please Allegri.
“I haven’t received any news about Furlani’s possible departure, or even about Tare. Milan are very fortunate: his name [the fortune] is Massimiliano Allegri, and they must do everything to protect him,” he began.
“And I mean they must be given carte blanche, both to him and Igli Tare: Milan can’t be Cissé and André next year. It needs to be a strong player [signing] and a young one, and so on. When Milan gets into the Champions League, they’re not just any team, and the whole world is waiting for them.
“The Rossoneri must try to win the Scudetto next year, and to do that they need top-quality players: one in defence, one in midfield, one in attack, and one on the wings, then you can add some young players.
“In recent seasons, we’ve seen how developing players has taken priority over winning, but Allegri thinks differently: he wants to win. I don’t want to think there are two minds: that would mean we haven’t learned anything from recent years.
“We need to listen to the coach, and not doing so would be a mistake. I hope eighth place has opened everyone’s eyes a little.”

If he leaves, good. Good for everyone.
Exactly, we need a proven winning coach to take over. Someone like De Zerbi, Fabregas or Xabi Alonso.
Proven winner? Last time I checked Allegri has 6 Scudetti to his name? Only Conte has a higher points per match of any coach in the 3 points for a win era in Serie A. He’s dragged this team from the shambolic state it was in last season finishing in 8th place to 2nd, our defence was comical at times last year and now its arguably the nost consistent in Italy… players like Pavlovic who were struggling are now being rated at 50 to 60 million. Put some respect on his name, look at what he inherited and what he’s done with it, the man is not a miracle worker
I never liked him first time around and do not like him now. Good for him he is managing some wins and a lot of draws. I like watching Como play better then us.
The only positive at all is double win over Inter and some other games against stronger opponents
Nobody understands still who the eff is running the show at Milan… and we’re what 5 years in after RedBird bought the club?
