Gabbia’s agent claims to be in the dark about Milan return: “You have to ask the clubs”

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Matteo Gabbia has not shut the door on the idea of his client returning early from his loan spell with Villarreal to help AC Milan’s defensive crisis.

Milan have found themselves in a crisis at the centre-back position with Fikayo Tomori the only fit senior option at the moment. Simon Kjaer has a muscle issue but should return soon, but Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Marco Pellegrino are out until 2024.

It was recently reported by Fabrizio Romano that Milan are advancing in talks to bring Gabbia back to the club in January from Villarreal, where he is meant to be on a season-long loan deal, and he added that the 24-year-old is ‘open’ to the idea of returning.

Gabbia’s representative Tullio Tinti from the TMP Soccer agency spoke on the sidelines of the Assoagenti meeting in Milan about the future of some of his clients, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

Is there a concrete possibility of Gabbia’s return to Milan?

“It’s news that you have had and I haven’t yet. You probably know it you first, I’ll try to verify it… He’s doing very well at Villarreal, I think they’re very happy to keep him. If there’s the possibility and the clubs talk about it, I’ll talk to the boy about it.

“I don’t intend to bother the boy about things again not clear. Milan needs? Yes, there have been injuries, but maybe they will recover. Gabbia also needed to play continuously and Milan protected him, we are happy at Villarreal.

“If Milan then really needs it, the boy he will think about it. You have to ask the clubs, to date no one has contacted me.”
