Gabbia hopeful ahead of ‘difficult’ Supercoppa derby: “We have what it takes”

AC Milan are currently gearing up for the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter, hoping to restore some confidence after a tough start to 2023. Matteo Gabbia believes they have what it takes to take home the trophy.

Following the 2-1 win against Salernitana, Milan have drawn two games and lost one, getting knocked out from Coppa Italia in the process. In other words, their start to 2023 has been anything but successful as things stand.

The mood could change tonight, though, as the Rossoneri will have a trophy to play for against Inter. Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, the centre-back Matteo Gabbia shared his thoughts on the matter.

Initial thoughts…

“It’s a final, a derby, we have to stay clear-headed, we’re focused. We’ve worked well and we have to enter the field giving our best.”

On the match…

“It will be a balanced and difficult match. We have what it takes to do well. We will try to put in a great performance to win.”

On the defence…

“We’ve seen all the games played up to now with the coach. It’s a matter of teamwork, of unity.”

Compared to the game against Lecce, Stefano Pioli has decided to make three changes to the starting XI. Simon Kjaer has been given the chance at the back, Sandro Tonali is back from suspension, and Junior Messias will start on the right.
