Gabbia sheds light on Pioli’s ‘very demanding’ methods and agrees with Ibra’s season target

Matteo Gabbia agrees with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his target to win the Scudetto this season, while he also revealed what Stefano Pioli is like as a head coach.

The Milan squad have been out in Dubai since the weekend as part of a warm weather winter training camp that has the aim of getting everyone ready condition-wise for the second part of the season.

The Rossoneri played the first of the two friendlies they will take part in yesterday, losing 2-1 to Arsenal in what was certainly a game heavily conditioned by the amount of absentees from the ‘first choice’ starting XI.

Gabbia was interviewed by SportMediaset at the end of the friendly against Arsenal, and he spoke about how the squad are in the UAE and what the rest of the season holds, with PianetaMilan relaying his comments.

“It was an important test to understand the physical condition and to try to implement the notions that the the coach is trying to teach us these days. It’s a test that we’ll need to then get to the season restart in the best conditions,” he said.

On what Pioli asks for: “He’s a very demanding coach and he doesn’t dwell on just one aspect, on the contrary he tries to improve them all. All are important: from the defensive phase, from managing the ball to finishing. We know there is work to be done and improve some aspects. We will do our best to do it as soon as possible.”

On Ibrahimovic targeting a second star (20th Scudetto): “If Zlatan said so, it’s right. I agree with him, I hope it will be done. We have this great goal and from January 4th we will try to win all the matches we face.”

On the training camp in Dubai: “Compared to Milanello there is a difference in degrees, but not on the pitch. We have time to work and spend time together. So it is important for us to use this time which is less available during the season, given that play every three days.”
