It was a hard-fought clash but AC Milan eventually came away with all three points against Spezia. Olivier Giroud was the big hero with a goal in the 89th minute, coming off the bench.
The Frenchman continued his good form after the brace and two assists against Salzburg mid-week. He did, however, get sent off after taking his shirt off which was certainly a brain fart from him.
Today’s newspapers inevitably focused on Giroud but also Daniel Maldini who, on loan from Milan, scored for Spezia last night.
Gazzetta Dello Sport: “Giroud doesn’t give up. Milan wasteful against Spezia but in the end, the French bomber takes care of it with a piece of magic.”
Tuttosport: “The fairy tale is Maldini, the party is for Milan. Daniel, goal and emotions for dad Paolo. In the 90th, the fabulous Giroud freezes Spezia.”
Corriere Dello Sport: “Maldini Jr stuns San Siro, then Giroud takes care of it. Spezia beaten.”
