That change could involve the hiring of Galliani, who served the club during the Berlusconi era and left once he sold the club. Since then, he has remained a fan of the club and has regularly spoken well of the Rossoneri.
Recently, with Monza relegated to Serie B and the Diavolo reshuffling, there have been rumours of a return, and MilanNews‘ Andrea Longoni spoke about this talk in an editorial piece today.

He was left with almost no resources. And Berlusconi was always focused on politics. He was Prime Minister for years.
Regardless, Berlusconi & co. did not know how to balance the books. It’s why they had to sell to begin with. People think nothing of this, but we could be like Lazio, banned from transfers for two windows, or like…Milan, in a settlement agreement with UEFA, or worse. Just saying. If Cardinale would just let football people like Tare and Allegri (like Galliani?) run the football side of the club within his budget, we will do well. Cardinale knows nothing to very little about football, but that’s OK. Owners don’t necessarily have to. They’re just owners, the money. What they need to be good at is picking the people to run the club on the day to day level. Hopefully Cardinale is learning, as the appointments of Tare and Allegri suggest.

What exactly in Galliani’s portfolio suggests that he works well when there is scarcity of funds?
When he was here, when the Berlusconi largesse siezed, did he show ability to identify and acquire young talented players on a budget, or to negotiate advantageous deals?
For the records, I respect what he has done well for the club when we had abundance of funds to throw around, but outside of that I can’t remember any technical deal we made when we lacked funds.
Of course, to recover Scaroni’s “great failures” which includes winning the Scudetto and reaching the UCL semi finals with scarce funds.
Let’s stop talking like a guru who’s stuck in old ways and only knows how to do business when there’s plenty of money can do better here.

He’s a genius, no doubt. That’s why I also made reference to Ancelotti not being a good fit for a broke club, no matter how good he is, he wouldn’t perform well given the circumstances.

He didn’t do a thing. Berlusconi identified our best players and coaches. When Galliani was put in charge of the day to day running of the club, the slide began. Not to mention this was the tool who was Serie A president during Calciopoli.

My take on the subject is that, whatever you bring Galliani in to do now to “unlock few tough negotiations” without money is a failure on arrival.

Galliani did show class when the funds were low, and it’s why Milan managed to stay in the Champions League for as long as they did. When there was no money, he signed El Sharaawy who scored double digits the first six months. Then he signed Valotelly who scored double digits in six months. He made clever signings like Van Bommel, got under-utilized players like Nocerino, players who needed a certain type of environment to succeed, like Prince and Robinho. Montolivo came in and basically kept out midfielf alive after Pirlo, and he alone was why Milan for top 4 that season. Bonaventura & Romagnoli were two of the highest rated talents in Italy, and Galliani got both of them to Milan despite heavy competition and no Champions League football.
Galliani did as well as ANY Director would, with as little as he was given.
In the end, the carpet was ripped away under him, and it was never gonna last. But he ensured that Milan was kept afloat for a while, which was quite the miracle.
But, if they want him back so he can help us fix matches, of course I do understand that.

Considering Scaroni failed to make any significant progress on the matter of stadium, Galliani would be a huge improvement. He’s well connected both in politics and football world and knows the environment. He knows people that know people and that’s what’s needed in Italy to move things forward, unfortunately.
