Gasperini insists Atalanta must focus on themselves amid ‘extraordinary season’ of Milan

AC Milan will take on Atalanta this Sunday and with it being the penultimate game of the season, it’s decisive for both teams but especially the Rossoneri. Something that the Bergamo side’s manager is very aware of.

Milan are just four points from clinching the Scudetto and the game against Atalanta will thus be a crucial one. While it’s not as serious for Atalanta, they are fighting for a spot in Europa and will not come to San Siro related.

Speaking to the media in his post-match press conference, following the win against Spezia, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about the game. He made it clear that his players will have to focus on themselves and not the Scudetto.

“If we are referees of the Scudetto? We must be our own referees, we need the points for our season. We will play in Milan against a team that has had an extraordinary season, it will be a decisive match for both of us in a beautiful setting, it is fantastic to play these games. We will have to play very well to get a result,” he said as cited by MilanNews.

Provided that Inter win all of their games, Milan need four points from the last two games and the finish line is certainly in sight. It won’t be easy, though, especially against Atalanta in front of a packed San Siro.
