GdS: Asking price for Fiorentina star slashed to €25m – player happy to join Milan or Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

The asking price for centre-back Nikola Milenkovic has dropped significantly from what it was last summer, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) reports how if last year Fiorentina asked for €40m to sell Milenkovic, in the upcoming mercato the price will obviously be lower, potentially around €25m but it could drop even further in the coming months.

This makes the Serbia international an interesting market opportunity for more clubs and Milan are among them, as Stefano Pioli has great respect for the Serbian centre-back whom he coached during his time at La Viola. In case of qualification for the next Champions League, the investment would be possible, but it must be seen what happens with Fikayo Tomori (who has a €28m buy-out) and Alessio Romagnoli (contract expiring in 2022).

Inter would welcome him with open arms for his 3-5-2 system. Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksander Kolarov will leave the team at the end of the season and the Nerazzurri want to reinforce their defence.

Milenkovic would appreciate either destination as on the Rossoneri side of the city he would find a coach he already knows in Pioli, while on the Nerazzurri side he would play with a team that could win the Scudetto again next year. Premier League clubs could also make their voices heard, the paper concludes.
