GdS: Atletico and Barca could miss out as €25m Milan captain wants to renew

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli has been linked with a departure for several months now, mainly because his contract with Milan will expire in 2022. However, it seems the Rossoneri captain could actually stay at the club.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan consider Romagnoli one of the three potential centre-backs starters. Therefore, they are also prepared to initiate negotiations with his agent, Mino Raiola, for the renewal.

Everything will depend on the demands of Romagnoli, but it’s clear that he will be sold to the highest bidder if an agreement can’t be reached. This summer will thus be decisive for the future of the 26-year-old, who still has a point to prove at Milan.

Juventus have expressed their interest in the centre-back for quite some time but the most likely destination would be abroad. The likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the situation, as Milan could accept around €25m.
