The clash with Lille highlighted, once again, just how important Ismael Bennacer is for this Milan. He came on in the second half and immediately spiced things up, using his vision and passing to open spaces.
The young Algerian, per Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), is the lighthouse of the Rossoneri’s midfielder. His presence is necessary and fundamental, as confirmed by the numbers: only Kessie (41), has recovered more balls than Bennacer (39).
With him on the pitch, Milan have produced 21 goals and this amounts to almost two per game. Many Rossoneri fans have praised him as of late and it’s certainly justified, given just how involved he has been in both phases of the game.
Sandro Tonali, who arrived from Brescia this summer, will have plenty of time to show off his best sides. In the meantime, the scene is there for Bennacer, who will be hoping to continue on the same path.
