GdS: Cardinale’s successful three-day Italy trip ends – when he will be back

By Oliver Fisher -

Gerry Cardinale will leave Italy today after a brief stay in the country, but he is expected back for the next Champions League game at San Siro according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), the three-day stay for Cardinale ends today. The American will leave for the United States after what has been a successful visit overall.

After Monday’s meeting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw the parties reach an agreement for the return of the Swede, we are only waiting for the official announcement on his return as the former striker will most likely be classified as advisor for RedBird Capital but will obviously also work with the club and the players.

On Tuesday evening Cardinale applauded the Rossoneri’s 2-1 win over PSG in the stands at San Siro: it is possible – depending on compatibility with the commitments on his agenda – that he will return to Milan on 28 November for the match against Borussia Dortmund.

That game against the Bundesliga side will close out the home matches for the Rossoneri in the Champions League group stage. Milan now have their destiny in their hands: by beating Dortmund and then Newcastle on 13 December, they would be in the round of 16.
