GdS: De Ketelaere must leave World Cup failure behind and blossom at Milan

By Isak Möller -

The World Cup wasn’t exactly a success for Belgium and AC Milan playmaker Charles De Ketelaere, who now must leave the disappointment behind. The Rossoneri need him to break out, which is easier said than done.

Given his form with Milan this fall, the lack of playing time at the World Cup didn’t come as a huge surprise to the Rossoneri fans. In fact, De Ketelaere only played 15 minutes, making one appearance off the bench, and he looked rather bleak.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), the Belgian will have a short vacation before joining his Milan teammates. Most likely for the training camp in Dubai, but an even earlier return cannot be ruled out.

Milan are aware that they have only seen glimpses of what De Ketelaere is capable of, eager to see him blossom. We have seen it before with several players, such as Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao, but the pressure is really on the playmaker to make it.

Brahim Diaz won’t be enough for the No.10 role, and the potential arrival of Hakim Ziyech certainly isn’t set in stone, meaning De Ketelaere simply has to step up.
