GdS: Milan to watch on with hope as De Ketelaere gets call-up for U21 Euros

By Oliver Fisher -

Charles De Ketelaere has been called up by Belgium for the U21 European Championships that will start next month, and AC Milan will watch on with hope.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirms that De Ketelaere and Aster Vranckx have both been summoned by their country for the tournament, which will take place in Romania and Georgia.

De Ketelaere’s season was well below expectations as he arrived last summer after endless negotiations with Club Brugge and over €30m paid out. He lost his starting position and is finding very little playing time in this season finale, with zero goals and one assist to his name.

Milan have no intention of selling him during the upcoming summer transfer window, but the hope is that the second season for the Rossoneri will be a lot more positive just like it was for Leao and Tonali.

The Under 21 European Championship could help too, as it represents an international showcase in which CDK will be able to show his abilities and regain the confidence lost in his first year at the club.

For Charles it will be a great opportunity to convince Stefano Pioli even more to bet on him again next season, but first of all he will look to make his contribution against Juventus and Verona in the last two league games.
