GdS: Denials arrive from Elliott and Gazidis regarding offer made to Rangnick

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s owners Elliott Management have denied offering a role to Ralf Rangnick which would have seen him work alongside Stefano Pioli, a report claims.

It seemed almost certain that Ralf Rangnick would be arriving as the club’s new manager once the season was over, but during the first half of Tuesday night’s win over Sassuolo reports began to emerge stating he would not join and that in fact Stefano Pioli would sign a new deal and remain, something the club confirmed after the game.

Calciomercato.com reported that the breakdown happened because Rangnick refused to devote himself entirely to the role of technical director and co-exist with Pioli, as the German instead wanted a greater say on training and the team.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) however, the version from Elliott and CEO Ivan Gazidis is different, as they are adamant that the Rossoneri ownership have never proposed to Rangnick the idea of working alongside Pioli.
