GdS: The games Maignan likely will miss due to injury – from Chelsea to Monza

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan were handed some bad news last night as tests revealed a lesion in Mike Maignan’s left calf. The goalkeeper will miss quite a few important games, including the ones against Chelsea.

The former Lille man sustained the injury while on international duty with France, forced to leave the pitch at half-time. Milan were initially hoping for good news but it quickly became clear that this was never going to happen.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the tests revealed a calf lesion and Maignan will be out for about a month. He’s expected to miss the following games: Empoli (October 1st), Chelsea, Juventus, Chelsea, Hellas Verona and Monza (October 22nd).

He could potentially make it back for the latter clash, per the newspaper, but Milan certainly won’t rush him back into action. He’s expected to be excluded from the Champions League list, with Ciprian Tatarusanu getting the spot instead.

Maignan must remain out of the list for 30 days, even if he were to recover earlier, and that means he could perhaps be re-instated for the Dinamo Zagreb clash.
