GdS: Gimenez’s return for derby remains in doubt – when Milan will evaluate him

Santiago Gimenez is running a race against time to make it back for the Derby della Madonnina next week, according to a report.

The Mexican striker has been sidelined for a few weeks now due to an ankle problem, which had been affecting him since the start of the season. The goal was to use the current international break to make a full recovery, but there are no some doubts about that.

According to the latest reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Gimenez himself is incredibly keen on making it back for the derby, even if he likely won’t be a starter. However, Milan and the striker won’t go back on their decision: for him to return, it has to be a full recovery.

By the sounds of it, Massimiliano Allegri and the medical staff will have to wait until Friday next week to make a decision. Between now and then, Gimenez will continue his individual program and hope that he can return to group training as soon as possible.

After all, there’s a big difference between sitting in the stands for a derby and sitting on the bench, even if you don’t get any playing time. From start, we will see Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic together up front, that is 99.9% certain.

  1. Why Arent they talking about Nkunku. Milan brought Nkunku thinking he would make a difference but I haven’t seen anything special about him. When Santiago plays he makes a difference in the match. And when Nkunku plays nothing magical happens.
