GdS: Giroud eager to break away drought amid recent success – ‘A Scudetto-worthy No.9’

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud has been a key player for AC Milan in the second half of the season thanks to some important goals, including the brace against Inter. Indeed, the Rossoneri are delighted with his recent output.

The Frenchman, along with Rafael Leao, has helped keep the Scudetto race alive for Stefano Pioli’s men. Many believed that the injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be devastating for the team but that hasn’t been the case.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), he has 7 goals in 16 league games, 10 goals if you count the Coppa Italia. It seems he has found his stride as the output lately has been very impressive, taking advance of Ibrahimovic’s injury.

Giroud has no intention of stopping, as the newspaper continues, and Milan can dream about the Scudetto thanks to the strength of their No.9. However, he’s yet to score a goal away from home (not counting Inter clash) and that’s something he will want to change against Salernitana tonight.
