GdS: Giroud expected in Italy during next 48 hours ahead of joining Milan from Chelsea

Stefano Pioli is ready to greet the newest arrival of the summer as Olivier Giroud is expected to arrive in Italy soon ahead of joining AC Milan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Giroud will have another couple of weeks of holidays after the European Championships, but he is ready to interrupt them momentarily to fly to Italy, undergo his medical with the Rossoneri and sign a two-year contract at €3m net per season.

Giroud’s arrival in Milan could well happen on Wednesday or Thursday but everything will depend on the dialogue between Milan and Chelsea, given that they are trying to resolve the very final details, with Paolo Maldini agreeing to pay the Blues a small compensation for the striker.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recovery times still uncertain, Pioli hopes to have Giroud available soon to be able to prepare for the new season with an experienced centre-forward to lead the line in his 4-2-3-1.
