GdS: How Milan could line up next season if five concrete targets arrive

AC Milan have sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for a club-record fee and that should bring the funds to completely reinvent the squad.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has provided an update on some of the ongoing negotiations for targets such as Yunus Musah, Tijjani Reijnders, Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic.

The paper hypothesises how Milan could line up for the first game of the 2023-24 season if they manage to sign the players currently linked, with the goalkeeper and back four unchanged from last season.

New signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek is tipped to operate in front of the defence with Musah in the double pivot waiting for Ismael Bennacer’s return, with Reijnders deputising for the USA international.

Chukwueze should take up a spot on the right wing if he arrives with Luka Romero – also expected to join – down as his back-up. Christian Pulisic could be the new playmaker after Brahim Diaz’s exit, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud completing the XI.

  1. Krunic is really important to the depth chart too, can basically fill in for three or four of those positions when needed

    1. They do, but it’s not a good market for strikers this year and we’re still paying Origi and Rebic a combined 7.5m net per year.

If we can get one off the books, then IMO we need to look at a short term solution for this season (Icardi, Morata or Scamacca on loan) and focus on a better transfer next year.

    1. With you on this one, buddy. Shameful that there’s just one Italian in the team of such a historic football club.

      1. While there are so many good options

Baldanzi – talented AM – position we need
Parisi – can play RB or LB

Scalvini – if Atalanta wants CdK then this could be an option

Berardi – RW ..was actually in Maldini/ Massasa’s plans and we need a good RW

        Zaniolo – Berardi alternative

        Frattesi – box/box Midfielder

Casedei – another talented midfielder who shown great skills during U20 WC

        1. I agree completely. If the moneyball idea was being applied to young talented Italian players then yes..but waste 20m on loftus cheek and 15mmon Pulisic and then claim we can’t afford SMS…

Also agree with all the players you’ve highlighted. Shame they don’t think as you do

          1. 15m for Pulisic is a lot better than 30m for Zaniolo.
Zaniolo even has a worse injury record in that comparison as well as a worse general record given that they are the same age.

    1. Because Milan is now an American team and Pulisic is American.
Same thing why Milan is considering Musah (also American) from Valencia

Wouldn’t be suprised if Milan would go for McKennie in the future

      1. No, Because Pulisic is better and he can also play on either wing and Attacking midfield as well which makes him very useful. And Musah is only 20 and already a very good player with big potential. Yes, the fact that they could also help Milan in the US market is a plus as well.

  2. We need an upgrade/alternative to Calabria… And to figure who the captain really should be. Davide ain’t it.

    1. True, I think Kalulu should be starting over him at RB but I guess there has to be at least one Italian in the lineup. Theo should be the Captain.

  3. Why the hell are you even putting loftus cheek in as a starter? He’s barely played in 4 years and all of a sudden he’s a Tonali replacement…jokers

I find it sad how people’s standards have dropped so low
