The clash between AC Milan and Inter is also a battle for two powerful owners, namely Elliott and Suning. Since their involvement in the Rossoneri, the American hedge fund have invested a good amount of money, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it).
Since April 2017, Elliott have invested a total of over €370m in the club. The amount includes the initial loan to the former owner Yonghong Li, as well as an additional €32m to the same man. Finally, the management costs thus far represent a good chunk, the report states.
As the report continues, Milan closed the most recent financial year at a loss of around €90m, which is a significant amount, albeit an improvement compared to the previous year (€126m loss). The ultimate goal is to increase turnover and create a valuable brand.
Both Milan and Inter are entering a new era, so today’s game won’t just be a battle between the club, but also between the ambitious owners. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:45 Italy time, with the Rossoneri being the designated home side.
