Sunday should have been the day that Zlatan Ibrahimovic return to the field after the injury sustained a month ago with the Swedish national team, but instead he picked up another problem.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) write this morning that Stefano Pioli had already made the decision to bring Ibrahimovic on for the final few minutes against Lecce and so the Swede was warming up on the sidelines, but at a certain point he was forced to stop and go back to the changing rooms.
It is another big blow for Zlatan who wanted to do his bit to help the team towards qualification for the next edition of the Champions League. In the next few hours he will undergo some tests to verify the extent of yet another injury, but the feeling is that at best he will be back towards the end of the season.
Milan and Ibra have not yet scheduled a meeting to talk about the striker’s future and his current contract expires on June 30. It is true that a renewal could be offered with a very low salary, but the issue is simply not a priority for the management.
In the summer Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will in all likelihood invest in a striker to support Giroud and therefore there may no longer be room for Zlatan, whose body seems to be giving him signs.
This is bad management by Milan hierarchy, if Zlatan is given a new contract, it make no sense!!!
Agreed. It was a good run. But it’s time to accept reality and say goodbye.
It might be a good idea to renew him because he will bring good financial value.
makes no sense to not give hima new contract… if its a very low salary and he wants to stay another year!!
What did Maldini and Massara expect? He’s old and had major acl surgeries.
The stupidity of this management to think they could bank on Ibra another year after the scudetto is beyond ridiculous especially when Geoffrey Moncada recommended Randal Kolo Muani to Maldini and Massara and they didn’t sign him and he was a free agent.
The only change I want to see this summer is replacing Maldini and Massara with a competent sporting director who has experience in building a team.
This is where I regret Milan not appointing Ralf Rangnick as sporting director instead of Massara.
It would be even better if we can get Giuntoli to leave Napoli and come to Milan.
“This is where I regret Milan not appointing Ralf Rangnick as sporting director instead of Massara. ”
Yeah, he has done such an AMAZING work at ManU. LOL.
