Zlatan Ibrahimovic has decided not to make the trip to Saudi Arabia for AC Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter, according to a report.
Ibrahimovic’s return to the field is still not imminent after the striker underwent surgery on his knee after the Scudetto win at the end of last season, with the possible comeback date being constantly pushed back as he still feels pain.
In recent days, rumours had surfaced that Ibrahmovic might fly to Riyadh to be close to his team-mates ahead of what is a very important game against their city rivals, with a trophy up for grabs.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) have explained this morning that the Swede will not be in Saudi Arabia, and instead he has remained working at Milanello.
It comes after the news that owner Gerry Cardinale will also not be attending the game, and instead will watch from his office in New York.
Even Zlatan don’t think we can win it. Oh well… We lost to Inter in the Coppa last year and that defeat pushed us the scudetto eventually. Deja vu?
Eh. Nobody is catching Napoli. I think Ibra is staying to work on his recovery because he realizes how absurd it will be to only play the last two months of this season.
