GdS: Ibrahimovic itching to return to action – there is optimism regarding his recovery

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are awaiting the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is itching to get back on the field with his team-mates, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that Ibrahimovic will not be able to join the rest of the squad immediately, but on 8 July – the day which the meeting is scheduled for next season – Ibrahimovic will be at Milanello. The Swede had knee surgery on June 18 and will not start training together with his team-mates, but will continue his recovery with physiotherapy and gym work.

The 39-year-old has a great desire to return to the field, but to do so he will have to have a little patience because he cannot afford to risk further damage. The current plan is for him to start running again in mid-July and if everything goes smoothly he will be back on the field either at the end of July or the beginning of August.

The Swedish striker is now enjoying the last days of his vacation, but the rehabilitation process started a few days ago. Both the club and Stefano Pioli are constantly updated on his condition, and there is hope he is back for the start of the season.
