GdS: Ibrahimovic will not be at Milan-Sassuolo – the reason

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are back in action on Saturday night as they face off against Sassuolo at San Siro, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reportedly not be present.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes this morning, Ibrahimovic will not be at the Sassuolo game. Those who were expecting him to be close to the team and Stefano Pioli in a difficult moment might have been surprised to see his latest video on social media.

Ibrahimovic was on the beach in Miami performing an overhead kick to the music of Dr. Dre. Given that this is 8,000 miles away from Milanello, this ‘Christmas holiday’ in Miami could well be something he already had planned before his signing with RedBird as an AC Milan advisor.

The newspaper asks the question, will this be the case for his role in general and will he not be required to work every day? We’ll find out in the coming months, but he will not be at the game on Saturday.

He was present at Salernitana-Milan alongside CEO Giorgio Furlani. This is why it was very striking to see him appear, on the afternoon of Boxing Day, on an American beach instead of on the paths of Milanello.

  1. Ibra was an immense player capable of single handily dragging teams to league title wins as evidenced by his 8 BACK TO BACK league titles and 14 overall (and personally I rank league titles above all else as indisputably the best team is top at the end of the season including Milan in 21/22).

But off the pitch he’s not actually a good role model. Balotelli was in awe of him and tried to repeat what he did but was too black to get away with it. El Shaaraway said he destroyed his confidence.

If you compare him to (only…. 7 league title) Maldini, I mean where would Maldini be right now in this situation?

    1. Man these Maldini fanboys are ridiculous. This article is not about Maldini. Never mentions him. Ibra does not have the same role as Maldini,. But they can’t help but make it about Maldini. Get over it you children.

  2. Ibra doesn’t understand what the optics are when he signed up for the job. The role he took is different from what the fans thinks he’s taking

    1. So you know what Ibra understands? And what his role is? And what the fans think his role is? Man, you are just so much smarter than everyone else. What a burden.

        1. It’s the arrogance of these two statements.
          1) “Ibra doesn’t understand what the optics are when he signed up for the job.”
Thinking you know what Ibra does or does not understand, as if you are in his head.
          2) “The role he took is different from what the fans thinks he’s taking.”
How the F does he know what the fans think Ibra’s role is? He would do best to speak for himself and not for other people. That would be a good idea.

        2. Dude just angry for no reason or because I always ignore him everytime 😂. I just skip past his comments as basically it’s a guaranteed waste of my time. Like what exactly was that nonsensical response??? Lol 🤣🤣🤣
Like, if he disagreed with me he disagreed with the authors because the last paragraph is basically the same thing (about optics and perception). And then I threw an olive branch on my last sentence (because our perception vs his actual role may differ in expectations). 🤷‍♂️ Maybe he could make his own post saying why he disagreed with them. I dunno….this is why I dont waste my time.

          1. He said as he responds to my post yet again.
It’s not about what the optics look like, it’s about you presuming to know what Ibra understands, or what the fans think his role is. Nowhere is the author this presumptuous, that’s all you buddy.

          2. Forgot to add the @ACM1899 so he’s not confused as to who I’m responding to 😂😂😂. He might not.see the clear dotted lines that go up to your comment

          3. Right, so now you are not replying to my comments by replying to someone else’s comment while talking entirely about my comment. Brilliant! You are just too smart for me. And I’ve noticed a connection, the weaker your argument, the more emojis you use. Like a proper teenager.

    2. I don’ think anyone understands what his role is, maybe even Ibra himself. But you’re right, the optics are terrible.

You’d never see Maldini on the beach in Miami with Milan in the state it is in currently.
