GdS: Ibrahimovic’s calf problem nothing to worry about but absence vs. Red Star is likely

By Oliver Fisher -

There is nothing to worry about regarding the fitness of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a report claims, and he should not miss any vital fixtures.

There was somewhat of a strange substitution in the closing stages of Milan’s 3-0 defeat to Inter as Samu Castillejo came on for Ibra with Milan needing goals. However, as revealed by Stefano Pioli himself at the end of the game, the 39-year-old asked for a change due to physical discomfort.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Ibrahimovic’s calf is fine and it really was just cramps that he suffered during the Inter game. The Swede was checked yesterday by the Milan medical staff who found no problems.

The paper adds though that in all likelihood, Stefano Pioli will not risk the 39-year-old in the Europa League Round of 32 second leg against Red Star in order to preserve him in view of the match against Roma this weekend.
