GdS: Investments and Champions League essential for Milan to tempt Conte

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are already planning for the post-Stefano Pioli era and the Antonio Conte hypothesis is seemingly gathering steam. However, by hiring the manager, the Rossoneri would also have to make significant investments.

The 2-2 draw against Salernitana has put Pioli’s position under heavy scrutiny and Saturday’s game against Sassuolo is decisive. A mid-season change will not be easy, though, and that’s why Milan are more so planning for the summer.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan board likes Conte and the qualities he would bring to the table. However, significant investments would be needed in all departments to please the manager, who is known to be very demanding.

Just like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who now has a corporate role at the club, Conte wants to win at all costs and is not afraid to say what he thinks. Milan have a good foundation to build on, with the likes of Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao.

Tijjani Reijnders has also shown excellent qualities, as the report continues, but the Rossoneri would need a couple of defenders, a good central midfielder and a strong striker. Only with the latter could they tempt a manager like Conte.

Furthermore, although there is a good foundation of players, Champions League qualification is essential in order to attract a great coach in the summer. Bologna’s Thiago Motta is also on Miln’s shortlist of potential Stefano Pili replacements.

  1. Conte has a poor track record in the champions league even when he was coaching Chelsea and Inter Milan who had a bigger budget than AC Milan.

So nothing will change for our Champions League ambitions if Conte arrive in my opinion.

We will possibly change for Serie A with him but we can do that with coaches like Motta and Farioli with players we currently have and a few additions that will upgrade the team.

So having Conte would be a complete waste especially for his ridiculous salary.

  2. Conte is the solution period.. he has played European final before. All this motta ppl.. he hasn’t manage big club before. No need to take risk

    1. he played jack all European finals, literally never even won a cup

but to people who dont watch any football he must be world class, pay him 13m/ye to get knocked out of UcL groupstages every year

      GENIUS

      1. You are seriously mental man, never seen one ounce of intelligence from you.
Tell me about your boyfriend Pioli, how many trophies he won apart from that 1 Scudetto you all keep repeating?
Also, he never even asked for 13M/y period.

        1. Paying Conte 8m a season is 13m before tax. So he’s right there. Conte has played a European final, which he lost with Inter, he’s also lost the Copa Italia with Juventus, and lost the FA Cup with Chelsea, he’s also won 1 Premier League title and 1 FA Cup with Chelsea, 3 Scudetto with Juventus, and 1 with Inter, and 1 Serie B title with Bari.

          1. Nah, I am sure he meant 13M/y net salary. He is not that sharp. His track record in Serie A is far better than Pioli, that’s for sure.
I don’t want us to get Conte, I am just saying, is miles, miles clear of Pioli.

  3. So they have to get Conte to realize they need to buy good players to be among the best? It is like football for dummies, I guess someone sent this book to Cardinale and Furlani after the fails in the past few months…What a bunch of clowns..

    1. Imagine, buying rejects from other clubs (and injury prone as well) doesn’t get you the Scudetto or Champions League. Who would have know that but anyone following football, anywhere…

      1. Geniuse like this guy think Milan can spend 1 billion like Chelsea if they want to lmao

Why dont you go support PSG if you like money so much you nonce

      2. We got them for free in the past and still won, do you think we paid anything for Cafu? Pirlo was a reject, Seedorf was a reject, Juventus had no faith in Inzaghi, we could go on and on. We’ve always made these players work for us. We never blew the bank on players, which is why Bonucci and Rui Costa are still out most expensive signings ever.

  4. Conte plays awful football, sucks in the UCL and fights with the board. He’s the Italian Benitez. I’d rather stick with Pioli than get a cancer like Conte. He will put the club back in debt.

  5. Please no Conte. His teams are unwatchable. Let’s try and win every game 1-0. No thanks. Plus all he will do is complain and complain no matter how much the team spends. Then he will quit. Just look at how much better Tottenham is this season and way more fun to watch. The game has passed him by as it has Mourinho.

  6. The only other side with eight shots on target in the first half of a Premier League game this season was Newcastle against Sheffield United in September. That ended 8-0. This arguably should be 8-0 already.
