GdS: Inzaghi wants promising young Milan midfielder as Benevento gear up for Serie A

By Oliver Fisher -

Benevento are considering a move to try and sign Milan-owned midfielder Tommaso Pobega this summer if they get promoted, a report claims.

Pobega is currently on loan at Serie B side Pordenone where he has been since the start of the season, and he has played a key role for them in the league, which is currently topped by Benevento.

From a central midfield role he has amassed five goals and three assists in 19 league appearances, and he only became a starter towards the end of November under head coach Attilio Tesser.

It was reported by Calciomercato.com on Monday that the Rossoneri are actually considering welcoming the 20-year-old into the senior squad in preseason to assess whether he is ready for first team participation.

Pordenone have an option to buy inserted into the one-year loan but Milan have a counter-option on that to buy him back, which could very well be exercised given his impressive displays.

According to Tuesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport though – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Benevento boss Filippo Inzaghi is already planning for the 2020-21 campaign which looks set to see the Giallorossi return to the top flight.

He is apparently keen on the idea of a move for Pobega, though it is not clear whether he would try for a loan or a permanent deal, the former seemingly a more suitable hypothesis at present.
