Luka Jovic will get the start for AC Milan up front against Frosinone on Saturday night at San Siro, and he must quickly begin to convince the management that he deserves to stay.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how Jovic ‘has been a ghost for months’ and only in the last week has he started to show what he can do. He should have sealed the game against Fiorentina but saw his shot saved by Terracciano, while he had another shot stopped and even hit the post against Dortmund.
The next step is obvious, and that is to get the first goal and hope it springs him into life with new confidence. Stefano Pioli will use him as the striker tomorrow but more out of necessity given Olivier Giroud is suspended, Noah Okafor is injured and Francesco Camarda is 15.
In his career he played at the Marakana in Belgrade with Red Star, in the Bundesliga stadiums with Eintracht Frankfurt and at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid. He has also scored at San Siro, a decisive goal to take the Germans to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, knocking Inter out.
It was March 2019 and it can be said that since then his performance has progressively decreased and in Serie A, between Fiorentina and Milan, he has not managed to reverse the trend. The Rossoneri attack however, which is completely blunt, does not allow for other solutions.
Jovic will be the starter again, as happened last Saturday. In the same way, the relay will be completed with Camarda, the youngest debutant in the history of the Serie A who was welcomed with applause at San Siro in the win over Fiorentina.
For Jovic, on the contrary, it could be one of the last chances before the club reviews its attack plans in January. In the meantime, Jovic hopes to build on the 73 goals scored in five countries, including Serbia, Portugal, Germany (clearly the most prolific seasons), Spain and Italy, in addition to the 10 with his national team.
My man jovic has 309 minutes and a handful in cl. So called super subs are rare af. Everyone needs consistency and game time to start making an impact. Even Jovic 😀
Yes, but he had that at other clubs, he also didn’t really score. Okafor has 2 goals for 50 minutes more.
But for all we know jovic might score 2 goals if he plays 50 minutes more. Either way he did show improvements in the last match he played and if he were to score a brace the perception of the fans could easily change,
TBH, he looked quite good against Dortmund.
Yeah. Tap in goals. Anyone in that space, who isn’t an invalid, would score them
Dude, why isn’t Jovic in those positions and scoring those tap in goals? Maybe he can’t position himself correctly?
Idk. 2.many variables to just brush off the dude as incompetent. I prefer okafor over jovic. I was against him coming in the first place.
But he has not been given a proper chance at all. Like lord origi last season.
That’s why I also think getting a new striker in jan is pointless. If they wont play it will be the same as with jovic.
Ac Milan should get En-nesyri from sevilla
Let the man actually get some chances in the box and I’m sure he’ll come good. He’s not a player who will build the play himself. He’s clearly a finisher who needs service, something that is hard to come by with pioli ball…
FFS stop putting this guy down. He was a low cost solution. Against fiorentina he played the pass that led to theos penalty. Against dortmund he hit the post with an outrageous header. He’s getting some sort of confidence but articles like this doesn’t help the poor guy. He needs time.
