Luka Jovic remains a curious case at AC Milan as the Rossoneri wait to see if he can reproduce some of his best form from earlier in his career.
As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), there was an irony in Jovic travelling to Madrid during the time off that Stefano Pioli granted.
Milan do not want Jovic to find the version of himself that was at Real Madrid, they want the Jovic which played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 season. He scored 17 Bundesliga goals and got 10 in the Europa League.
He was granted the first start for Milan against Genoa before the international break but he failed to make an impact.
Given he has been training at Milanello whilst Olivier Giroud has been on international duty with France, there is scope for more Jovic minutes over the next couple of weeks.
Milan have got Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli over the course of seven days and Giroud cannot start all three, so this is another chance for Jovic to show he can be a genuine backup for the Frenchman and secure a future with Milan.
Not for me. Okafor to deputy Giroud – Two goals already and more to come. We can’t wait for Jovic to find form..
This deal has all the characteristics of an ‘Origi Part II – The Mission’ kind of thing. With a crucial difference: Jovic is thankfully only a loan…
Jovic a loan???, he’s in full contract with us same like Origi. Viola terminate his contract so we got him on a free transfer.
I think it was structured as a loan with option to buy, not a must-buy clause. Since his contract with Fiorentina ends next year, if Milan choose not to buy him, he is a free agent.
No that is not correct, he joined us on a free transfer with an option for us to extend for a further 3 years if he ends up as a success, otherwise he will be free to look for a different team to join.
Milan owns jovic, we have him on a one year contract with an option to extend it for a further 3 years so no this is not even remotely reminescent of origis deal who we still own untill 2027 on a 4 mil yearly contract, that is unless notingham forrest buys him from us next summer.
